I have a ProHunter in 280 rem, and it will not shoot ANY factory loads under an inch. Have gotten good results with some 4350 and 150gr Siroccos though. If i did it again, i'd either go with the Ackley or 7mm STW from MGM

MGM chambers it for the encore.. so i say let er roll!! I wanted a 25stw but they dont offer it for the encore, so i opted for the 257wby

I think it's right on the edge. MGM doesn't encourage maxing it out in their Encore barrels. That's why I decided to go with the 280 AI... ...similar ballistics to a reduced load STW with less powder and less concern about equipment limits.

I went with the 257WBY in my Encore also and love it for Whitetails gun)

Have a few Encore's(some Contenders and G2s too).
Hanger bars = great item.
Oversized hinge pins = snake oil.
Aftermarket stocks = great item.


Encores enjoy being handloaded for......
JDJ barrels all seem to shoot well.
SSK Industries...fun line of Whispers!
MGM, Bullberry, great barrels.....
T/C barrels are okay, but beware...the company is being moved to MA and I'd expect the barrels to go downhill after the move.(just my own opinion due to the number of individuals I've met from Mass-hole land)
