Sub Sonic load for 308?

That's a lot of case volume for a very light bullet. Any specific reason to use those, and are you sure you don't want to hit the easy button and use something heavier?

Trail Boss or Tin Star would be the logical starting point since they're meant to take up case volume. With TB follow the guide and work down until you get there. I use Lil'Gun for bolt actions mostly, but I don't like to use it for very light charges like this one would be.

That is light bullet even for a 300BLK subsonic load. Heavy (230 gr I belive), round nose bullets and Trailboss as mentioned above were subsonic for me, but pitiful ballistically.

Thank all our you😎🥃. I'm asking for my nephew. I'll have to get the "bullet ferry " to deliver some of my 190 and 220 Nosler's to him! 🤓🙏

Bolt or gas gun? Also what twist rate? That's a big factor!!! My 5R won't shoot my 190 plus bullets at all. All key holing. It's a 1/11.25 twist.

My MRAD with the 1/8 twist rate loves the 190 plus loads

Try a 200 or 220 gr rnfb bullet-- they shot fin in my 1:11-- just can't use the tipped boat tail bullets in the slower twists

the SR4759 powder was tough to get about 10 years ago , I don't know if you can even
still get it today .I used it in a reduced 30.06 load . I did use IMR4198 with a 125 grain Nosler ballistic tip in a 308 , for a new shooter .it was pretty accurate , and very mild .

you can try the Hodgdon 60% rule , using H4895 . I've done this with good results .

Just verify because the rnfb was key holing as well in mine. Nothing like a good old baffle strike when you run a can
Hornady 220gr rnfb is 1.283" long @ 1050 fps with a 1:11 twist shows a stability factor of 2.17 at my altitude. Anything about 1.5 should be more than stable

Plenty stable-- tested with no can-- ok, shoots about 1/2 moa for me too.

Bolt gun, 1:10t. REM 700
I agree with the guys that twist is the other flaw of the 308. 300 BLK normally comes in an 8 or 7 twist, and has enough case capacity (without having too much) to get any .308 cal bullet I can think of up to 1050FPS. It's a round with a lot of limitations, but works really good at the thing it was designed for - subsonics.

There are bullets that will work in 10 twist 308s, it'll always be a compromise in the opposite direction - something meant to run fast trying to go slow:
