24 grains would be pretty light for 22 250

My .223, a Remington 700 heavy barrel loves 24.2 varget .020" off the lands. It's n ot a hot fast load however.

Worked up to 24.5, started at 24 seated at 2.225 and just got .75 6 shot group so I'll keep going up but happy with that group so far, 3 bullets made one hole and pretty cold here so not as steady

Look up the Dan Newberry 'Optimal Charge Weight' method and try some OCW loads around that 24.5-grn load.

I did free float the barrel and put a way better trigger on it, the recon has free floated barrel and forged reciever but couldn't get one so I got patrol, both have same barrel, I'm happy with it, never had a bad savage.

I don't guess load data. That will get you in a lot of trouble. I use the 69 match king in a few rifles.

When in doubt, always, always, always start low and work up.

Most of the incidents I've seen where someone blew up a gun it wasn't a noob it was someone who had been at it a long time and got overconfident in themselves.
