savage lrp 260 rem

I have not shot the Long Range Precision Savage, however, my hunting buddy bought a Model 10 Predator Hunter in 260 Rem. and I loaded it for his deer hunt in Neb. where he shot a nice buck at 200 yds.

This turned out to be one of the most accurate out of the box guns I have ever loaded. For deer at distances up to 400 yds, I have come to think that there is not a better bullet than the Nosler Accubond, so I loaded some 130 grain Nosler Accubonds for his rifle. I used the Nosler #6 Manual as a guide for loading the 130 Accubonds and they list RL-19 as the most accurate powder for this bullet. His gun shot the 130 grain Accubonds in RP cases, WLR primers and 46.5 grains of RL-19 into a .3 inch three shot group. I did not have to look further for a deer hunting load.

I also loaded 120 Nosler BT and RL-17. Without working up the load I loaded some, and with my starting load they also shot a .3 inch three shot group. This is is one great shooting rifle. I am now working up loads to shoot at long range targets. His gun has a 1 in 8 twist so my bullets to try are 142 grain Sierra Match. We have not shot these as of yet.

I have not shot that caliber in that model but I got 3 loads I will share.
Rem brass, 123grn lapua scenar or 125 nosler part, fed 210Ms, 44.5grns Imr4350.
Rem brass, 130 berger or accubond, 210Ms, 44grns Imr4350.
Rem brass, 139 lapua scenar or 140 berger, 210Ms, 47.5grns H4831sc.
All loads .015" off the lands, and if using lapua brass back charge weight off 1-1,5grns and of course always work up slowly and cautious!

you should try superformance with the 130 gr was getting 3000 in a 26 inch encore. try H 4350 with 142 sierras 42 and work up. was shooting them in the encore 2800.

load was
142 sierra moly coated
44.0 h 4350
fed 210
r-p brass full worked
2808 fps

3 shots clover leaf all touching.

shot rl-17 with 130's superformance will get you 100 more in my gun.

keep you posted LRP will be here this week. hope weather is good!

thanks Jason
