Here is my review of my new 308 Win project.

I bought a Savage 10 Precision Carbine in 308. It has an Accu-Stock with ABU finish. I added a Vortex HS-T 4-16x44 on a Weaver Tactical 20MOA base and Weaver Tactical 6-screw rings.

I am shooting IMR 4064 and a 180gr Speer Boat Tail.

The specs on these products are everywhere. I will say that even with the 180gr pills the stock recoil pad is more than sufficient. The Accu-Stock is no McMillan, HS, B&C, etc, but for a factory hunting profile stock it's the best I've seen.

Here is what sold me. I broke in the barrel with the first 17 shots. I backed up to 400 yards and shot a group right around 4" with no rear bag (I forgot it). This is a **** good rifle and worth the money! I'll have more update at longer distances when I get time and remember my rear bag lol.

Thats a slick looking rifle. I held one at a gun shop yesterday. Youre correct the stock does feel heftier than when I compared it to the crappy rem 700 SPS stock (love remington, stocks just stink). I'm sure once you tune some loads for it you'll be good to go. It's threaded right? I would look into a nice muzzle brake to help you watch your shots at extended ranges. Keep us posted on the progress.

It is threaded. I had planned to put a break on it, but the recoil pad does a great job and I don't like the extra noise.

After I get these first 100 rounds through it I'll start tightening it up with charge weight and OAL. I fully expect it to be .5MOA by the time I'm finished. It's just another Savage gem straight out of the box, which seems to be the norm.

I'm in the middle of a Savage 110 .338 Lapua build. There will definitely be a thread for that bad boy!

Update!!!

I don't know why we didn't take pictures of the 100 yard grouping, but we were between .5 and .75 MOA all day. We fired 75 rounds through the barrel in two hours and it never was even close to warm, which is impressive.

The last five shots my buddy sent three at 500 yards and I fired the last two at 600. I am blown away by this rifle with no load work. I'm just running a middle of the belt charge of IMR 4064 and a 180gr Speer Boat Tail with the book suggested OAL. I'm not sure if I should just be happy or play around with the charge and OAL. I am going to put a break on it now though. The recoil is extremely manageable, but it rocks way off target when you fire.

The first pic is the three at 500 and the second pic are the last two rounds I had at 600. My buddy that shot with me is ordering one tomorrow and I'd suggest anyone on the fence to do so as well. Awesome rifle for the price!!!
