Rifle groove question

I have a buddy called me and asked what I thought of a 6.5 PRC with a 1-8 twist on a Lilja 3 groove barrel. I told him I didn't know but bet I know someone who does.

I have read (no experience) that 3 groove barrels can be hard on Berger bullets, depending on how fast they shoot.

So the question is at normal speeds (3000ish)with a 6.5 PRC and 140 gr Bergers is he asking for trouble?

My thought is he should build the Sherman. So my question is at 3400 ish will the 3 groove cause problems.

We've run 3 grooves in 6mm at 3500' with no problems. Unless the barrel is toast, it shouldn't be an issue!
