Reloading 243

My top powder for accuracy and speed with that bullet was with Hybrid 100v, and I will add that the 85gr BTHP Sierra GK is an excellent bullet for deer IME.
Thanks honestly I haven't heard of that powder I'll look gor it I have imr 4831 4895 6.5 staball 4064 I have others for mostly magnum calibers

4895 works in a lot of cartridges. Of the powders you listed I've gotten the best results with Stabil 6.5 . The 85 Sierra is my go to bullet in the .243 when I can find them . Which has been about 3 years.

Oh man there's sooooooo many powders that would work well with that bullet weight in that cartridge. One that has promise that goes overlooked by many is Hodgdon Leverevolution. I had great results with it in my 243 shooting 75 grainers BUT they were old school 75 grain Barnes x bullets, probably pressure up at least as fast if not faster than an 85 grain cup and core even after I HBN treat them.

85g Speer btsp with R#19 & IMR 4831, Win brass is all over 3400 fps in a 26" barrel. The 85g Speer btsp is a deer bullet, not a varmint bullet with a pretty good BC. HV100 would be my second choice with speed and accuracy. Varget = IMR 4064 worked extremely well, but 200 fps slower than the above loads. IMR and H4350s worked very well. H and IMR 4895 are stellar, just not the speed of 19, IMR 4831, and HV100.

You rarely ever hear it mentioned, but the Barnes 80g TTSX is one heck of a deer and hog bullet and HV100 gives blistering speed with accuracy jumping .050 from the lands.

I got better penetration with the 85g Speer vs either of the Sierra 85's.

Alliant Reloader 15 or Reloader 16 are both good picks and it's $10 bucks off a pound at Midway USA.
