Reddings write up in thier catalogue......

As a result, irregularities in brass hardness....

The resulting headspace variations created.....

uniformity of case lube affected shoulder setback.

I don't lube the shoulders due to the die build up, and causing dimples. That was with RCBS lube and Lanolin. Maybe with Imperial or unique I can control that and make more uniformed sizing for Headspace.

so how are these shell holders suppose to correct irregularites in brass hardness ?

They don't correct for anything other than they let you move in 0.002" increments without touching the die.

You trial and error through the set the first time to get the correct bump, then after future firings if the brass has hardened and has more spring back you can drop to a shorter height and squeeze the case a touch tighter to size it back to the previous spec.

What press are you using? I don't think they'd work on anything other than a cam over press with hard contact to the shell holder.
