Recoil Lug ???

Typicaly the after market lugs are a bit thicker whcih helps with bedding and recoil strength , althought I seriously doubt that the factory thickness would fail.
another point and for me the main reason is that the factory part is stamped and that makes for un-even-ess (thats my new word) and thats a serious headache when you bed the action. The aftermarket lugs are machined so that are not tapered the "wrong" way so the bedding is easier to do well.
In my oppinion its $20-$40 well spent

Oh yea the after market lugs usualy get pinned in place so that when the barrel is tightened it would role out of alignment

Hi you can have the Rem lug surface ground for small calibres like up to 308-3006 but after that the extra thickness helps with the strength of your bedding job
