any 1 using the old encore or pro hunter for long range? got a buddy that has a 7mm mag in pro hunter that just shoots GREAT!!!!!!UNREAL..

I dont know anybody personally that does although i guess you can use any gun for long range if it shoots good enough to hit what you are aiming at at a given yardage with first shot accuracy. I have been interested in the pro hunter for the simple fact that i dont have a lot of money and you can basicaly have a new gun for under $300 if you get a new barrel to put on it.

I guess it depends on what's considered long range.
My 14yr old just shot a deer at 287yds with his 243 pro hunter rifle.
He's connected on longer shots on prairie dogs with the 223 pistol.
I've kicked dirt on prairie dogs at 692yds with my 6.5x284 pistol...just couldn't connect that day.
Its all about loading for the gun and trigger time.
If I had a 7mag, I would definately use it.
They may not be the most popular because they're break actions and folks say they can't shoot.
Check out the Specialty Pistols section to see what some of those guys are doing...with a pistol.
I guess you can tell that I am a T/C fan.
