While I will be the first to admit that I have no love of the democrats in general, nor pelosi in particular, I must play devils advocate for a moment...

Isn't the accused considered innocent until proven guilty?

I have a real problem with people crying foul that our second amendmant rights are being abused and curtailed if they cannot also ascribe similar importance to the other basic principal on which this country was founded.

On the other hand, I have been hypocritical myself in the past. I am concious of it, and try my damndest to stamp it out whenever I catch myself. It is often those trait which we hate most about ourselves that we critisize in others. Yes, this may just be a case of the pot calling the kettle black. However, just because the pot is black doesn't make the statement untrue, nor help the kettle shine any brighter!

The article never called Jefferson guilty,he is reffered to as suspected. The same as you or I would be if we robbed a bank and havent been convicted yet,or even if we were just under investigation for it.
I will admit,I have no telorance of Pelosi. After her remarks about how the American tax payers should basically support unemployed illegal immigrants to improve thier lifestyle,I knew she was an extreme socialist and has no problem promoting her socialist ideas.
As for Jefferson,no I wouldnt call him guilty,he is under investigation, but with two side kicks that have already plead guilty and 90 grand in his freezer (someplace people keep this kind of thing everyday)...well,you know the old saying,if it quacks like a duck.
I dont believe the article was in anyway implying guilt, its just the idea that the Speaker of the House would appoint someone under investigation of a crime to the Homeland Security Committee, especially after being removed from the House Ways and Means Committee.....kinda sends a very loud message about Pelosi's thought train process, dont you think?

    Absoloutly.

Like I said, I just had to play devils advocate! It's one of my favorite passtimes.

That being said, it could be said (althoug I don't believe a word of it, it could be said noinetheless) that what it may say about Mrs Pelossi's mindset is that she is an extreme patriot making a point about the presumption of innocense!

Hey, playing spin doctor isn't much less fun than devils advocate! Maybe I should get into politics...

Yeah.It could also be argued that Judas saved mankind by selling out Jesus Christ. But my mind doesnt work that way.

"well, you know the old saying,if it quacks like a duck."

good quote, he took the cash, and he'll get a pass on it, if republican was accused of this it would be ALL OVER the media, not just a couple places here and there. i get really sick of the media bias on this stuff. oh, and as for pelosi...no comment.../ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

    carry on with your discusion.

not that i condone such things, but it kinda surprises me that there isnt any attempts at these folks lives. or maybe we judt dont know about them? with the stuff that comes from some of the libs, i would think there would be a crazed redneck with a rifle on top of a building one day......

i dont want to see that happen. just something i wonder about.

Do please bear in mind the effect such topics of conversation can have on public relatins. All we need is for someone from one of the left wing nutjob thinktanks to stumble around in here looking for ammo and find this thread!

Not trying to suggest we censor anything, just being an advocate for common sense, as we all know these far left wingnuts doesn't appreciate either well intentioned humor, nor common sense!
