Hey guys:
I am fairly new to the site and to long range hunting/shooting!
I am at the point of deciding on a scope for my new long range rig!!! I have built a 8.6x72 Swamp Donkey Mag. on a Rem 700 and a Mcmillan A-5. I have a 20 moa base and Burris Zee rings, but I am stuck on the scope!!! The cartridge is capable of pushing a 250 gr bullet at 3100 fps, and a 300 gr bullet at 2800 - 2900fps!
I can't decide on a 4.5 x 14 x 50 or a 6.5 x 20 x 50 Mark 4's or a 6.5 x 20 x 50 comp.!!
I will be shooting this rifle out to 1 mile (hopefully) and also want this rifle for my main Moose - Elk gun.
Will the 4.5 x 14 x 50 be enough to 1000 yards and beyond or should I go with two scopes 1 for longe range (6.5 x 20 x 50) and the other for hunting ( 3.5 x 10 x 40 or a 2.5 x 8 x32)?
Any advice is appreciated!!!
