That sounds like something that should only be done by a qualified gunsmith.

If you have a good machining back ground its easy to draw up your own design and build one but you will need a lathe and mill for most designs.

I would agree that with the variaty and selection of brakes on the market it is far easier to just order one then build one unless you just want to give it a try.

What rifle will you be putting it on?

    There is a problem.
Here in Italy is difficult to have a muzzle brake. There are any on the market. From the USA they now do not send abroad any thing that may be part of a gun ( it happens from 11 september ); with a lot of difficulty I may have some part of may compound and some optics.
In Italy no one knows well how to make a muzzle brake that do not destroy the rifle accuracy.
Sometimes here some gunsmith do a series of holes on the barrel, near the muzzle. But the rifling have many problems and the accuracy is not good.
The best choice for me is to make one to put on my 300 WM
but I do not know the lateral hole diameter, the angle, and the measures of the brake.. and so on

Hi Shawn is from defensive edge in the US i am sure he can send a Gas Vent to you there in Italy. Also search 308 nate he is making a very good design and he would be able to send you one i am sure.

    And here is his website

    Here is Shawn's details
    his username is Shawn Carlock

One of them could send you an awsome muzzle break that will work well for you. I have some large tank style muzzle breaks but that is not the style you are after.

Kirby said my large break looked like a JP on steroids.
