This is the first time I will be loading the hammers, I have been reloading for around 50yrs but understand these are much different to load. I will be loading for my Savage model 110 300 win with 26" barrel, the powders I have available to load with are H-1000, IMR 4350, IMR 7828 SSC, and Reloader 25, I would appreciate it if anyone has used any of these powders with the 178 hammers. The way I understand it you start at the top of the load chart which is totally different than the way I have always started new loads. I have Peterson Brass which I will fire form before I try the hammers any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Gene

There is some data available in post #2 below. I tried H1000, RL26 and StaBALL 6.5. The later showed the best speed. I have not played around with the 178 much as my rifle has taken a liking to the 151 AH.

I've got the Peterson 300win mag long brass, loading the 178 AH with 74.5 grains Hodgdon 4350, federal mag primers, coal is 3.85 if I remember correctly, getting 3250 FPS (ish) with single digit es and sd, printing groups under 0.5 moa (0.35 moa is best 5 shot group to date) . 24" Cooper barrel, 1:10 twist with a suppressor. No signs of pressure. Check out the absolute hammer load data thread, lots of good info in the downloadable file on the first page.
