was able to spend the morning with another one of my Raptor LRSS rifles thats ready to head out to a very patient customer.
This one is a repeating Raptor LRSS in my 338 Allen Xpress shooting the 300 gr. Berger EH. Normally these rifles will top out at around 3000 fps with this bullet weight with a load that will produce 8-10 firings per case minimum. This bartlein however is a bit quicker then normal and topped out at 3130 fps using Ramshot Magnum powder.
This with a short OAL for the repeating platform and with a convnetional, long barrel life throat design. No magic getting these numbers. I did however drop down one grain off max for the accuracy test load which averaged 3090 fps and very comfortable pressures.
Was able to get out this morning and test before it got to hot. Tested at 1200 yards and easily met my 1/2 moa standard. This Raptor LRSS rifles pretty much shoot themselves. They are designed specifically to go head to head shooting against rifles in the 25-30 lb range yet do it with a ready to hunt with weight of just a hair over 17 lbs as you see it with the heavy vortex razor HD and bipod included. By no means a light rifle but for the power it produces and the very mild recoil thanks to the Painkiller muzzle brake, these rifles really are serious precision long range hammers.
Full function tested and proven, load development done and accuracy proven at 1200 yards. Will ship out tomorrow to its new home and then onto the next!!
