Hornady just announced a new line of GMX bullets, Guilding Metal Expanding, that are very interesting. Looks like AMAX with a couple of bands. Everyone is into mono bullets! This is getting interesting.
Caliber/Type Diameter Weight Ballistic Coef Item #
270 Cal. GMX .277" 130 gr. 0.46 27370
7MM GMX .284" 139 gr. 0.486 28270
30 Cal. GMX .308" 150 gr. 0.415 30370
30 Cal. GMX .308" 165 gr. 0.447 30470
338 Cal. GMX .338" 225 gr. 0.51 33270

From what I saw their BC was lower than a comparable TTSX bullet and expansion @ 2,000 ft/sec was pretty poor. Put together, I can't think the LR crowd will get too excited over this bullet.

However, Hornady has made some very good bullets over the years and I'd guess that they will be very competitively priced. I've shoot my share of Barnes bullets and I do cringe a bit whenever I have to restock the reloading bench. They sound more like an E-Tip (grooved) than anything else.

The monolithic bullet field is getting very interesting. Just in time too because who knows what evil things Obama & the enviro-whackos will dream up to further restrict sport shooting/hunting.
