didder,

Welcome aboard.

Pretty nifty looking rig.

What part of the country are you hiding in? Looks like a tricky range to shoot. Wind turbulence must be ugly at times.:D

Let us know how she's doin'

I'm from Wyoming. Thats just a pic at the local range. I finally got myself a homemade portable steel target so I can start shooting steel farther than 350yrds.
Does anyone know about how far away is it possible to hear a 30 cal. hitting a steel target?

What part of Wyoming? I live in Gillette.
Hearing hits on steel will depend a lot upon the atmospheric conditions at the time.
Since wind is not an issue in WY:eek::D it not even worth mentioning.
nice looking rig

The 'clang' can be heard a long way off just make sure you don't attach your steel solidly to the support, it needs to be able to freely move to ring well.
