My brother in law and his friend came up to shoot today. Buddy had never shot past 800, so we put a plate up at 1025. Conditions were perfect... His first shot was about 2 minutes high with his new rifle (25-06) that they'd been working loads up for. He connected on shot 6, I think. He also had a 243 he played with at 400 and 600 and hit extremely well.
Brother in law brought a 6 creed and his dad's 7 RM that'd he had worked on after his dad passed. Got on target after 3-4 rounds with those guns as well. His dad never got to shoot long range and would have been super proud.
I just missed edges of the plate the first 3 shots and then got on target with my 6.5 creed, which is fairly well dialed in. Was on target the second shot with my .22-250! It's a fast twist, sporter profile barrel from x-caliber, shooting the 75 eld-m. Typically shoots a ragged hole at 100, and I've shot it out to 800 a few times so I wasn't too surprised.
All day, we never held more than a minute and a half for wind, which was really nice for the guy that hadn't shot a lot of distance, since I mostly just "play" with long range and am not great at calling wind yet.
All in all, real fun day shooting distance!
