Been getting a 270 WSM rigged up. 700 with PTG bolt with straight handle. Mounting a 3x16 Sightron. Wanting to keep the weight down tried to use medium Talley's. Scope is 42,44mm ish, not a big scope. StraightnPTG bolt handle wouldn't clear the adjustment ring. Tried high's, took them off just didn't seam right, too high. Next I mounted a two piece Talley Picatinny base. Thought I'd give the new to me Wheeler rings a shot, never used them before. Cross bar can be swapped for a pic or weaver base. Still a little high but just cleared the adjustment ring.
I don't like how high the scope ended up. Don't have any other scope laying around I wanted mount. Not sure it would matter, straight bolt handle will probably hit no matter what scope.
These new to me Wheeler rings, top half mounts kinda sideways, not sure it does anything other than looks cool. Took some pics for grins.
