gun)Here is a pic of the goat i just took this past weekend in Vaughn, N.M. It was my first goat hunt, killed at 732yds (new PR), 1 shot, with my .30 HART! Pronghorn scored 76 1/8", not bad for a first!!

Nice. I got my first this year too. As far as fun factor I am ranking Antelope way up there.

eddybo,

I agree it was one of the more fun/ crazy hunts i have ever been on. i think at one point or another we were probably going 60mph around the pasture with 5 other trucks driving around. I dont know if this is how goat's are usually hunted but it was with out a doubt an experience.

Yup, this is definitely within the norm of speed goat hunting. Have bounced the top of my buddie's head off the inside roof of my former Ford Bronco on more than one occasion keeping up with goats :D It's also a lot of fun walking around and stalking them too.

Congrats on a real nice buck and a great shot! How llong were his horns and what chamber is your .30 cal?

Kyle Welker,
This is off topic, but I love the looks of your rifle barrel, what I can see of it anyway. What kind is it and what would you call the "treatment" to give it that look? Any chance of seeing some better pics?
Thanks

Good Job Kyle:)
+1 on some more pics of the gun.

Does anyone know the top speed of the speed goats?

Sorry to post this again but I am going to start a new rifle build in the next couple of months and really liked the look of your barrel.

Thanks

I went to Harts website and found:

rifles

I'm building one as well. I'm going to shoot them an email and see where they get the barrels done.

Looked at that link and from what I can tell, that barrel is one of the fluting options offered by Hart barrels. They have some nicelooking ones.
