Why tear down one of your good working rifles to customize it?? You'll more than likely end up spending the same amount of money to customize an existing factory rifle as you would just building a custom rifle yourself.
I'd get a custom action and build it up one part at a time. Get gunsmith help with the stuff like headspacing and the like. There is nothing quite like building your own rifle by scratch. The monetary amount will be comparible either way.
