Best poweder for a 270 win

H4831SC is a great classic powder in the .270. I worked up a very fine load in a buddies rifle with this powder using Federal 215 magnum primers.

IMR4350 and H4350 are also excellent in the 270.

I just finalized a load for my wife's 270 and settled on RL 19- CCI 200 and 130 bergers. Out of a 22in barrel I have been getting 3050 and accuracy is better than the factory loads we used.

from hogdon the fastest is imr 7977 for a 140. from alliant it looks like 17, 19 26 and pp4000.

I'm not a .270 Win shooter, but I shoot a .25-06AI and a .30-06AI and use IMR 7828 SSC for both. I would guess that for the .270 Win, 7828 or 7977 would be good for the heavies and would get good velocities with decent pressures, just like I get with my Ackleys.

I will be starting my initial development with imr 4831, noser brass, 140 grain nosler accubonds, and either cci 200, fed 10, or cci 250 primers. i'm hoping to make this into a perfect scenario 500 yard elk gun, more likely this will be my mountain rifle and 300 yard shots aren't uncommon but 500 is less common and would be about the best of my abilities right now. thanks everyone for giving me advice, i will let you guys in on the results as soon as i have some.
