Thinking of trying some Berger hunting bullets in my T3 and was wondering which one to try first? Going to be for deer and possibly elk this fall. Was thinking the 140 classic hunter?

I'm shooting the 140gr Hunting VLD. It is shooting .475 3 shots from my X Bolt. On a good calm day I've gotten 3" 500yd groups.

Hornady brass

Loading the 130 Berger with H4831SC, outstanding accuracy. Started halfway between lowest and max powder, 210M primers with Remington brass. Grandson is very happy.

I have shot 140 berger in many 270 with great success.

2.845 comparator length
H4831sc 60.3 grains
Fed 210 primer

She is fast and shoot sub.5

Performance (inside 100yrds) with 130 VLD Hunting has proven 100% devastating on the 3 blacktail I've shot with it. Enormous wound channels, instant kills. It'd be way too light a bullet for elk for my taste if you've got any chance of being significantly inside 100yrds. I hit mine from 20-100yrds. 1 of the bullets penetrated through. The other 2 fragged hard. When they encountered heavy bone like spinal columns the fragmentation was profound.

340, looks good to me. I just traded for a T-3 and it'll get the Bergers with H4831SC in it.
