I've noticed that none of the game I shot that fell dead worried nearly as much about the load or caliber as we do here though HA!
Many years ago I carried a 25-06 Ruger #1 as my "Antelope Gun" and had very similar results shooting 120gr hornady's.

Out to about 500-600yds it's a good caliber on deer sized game.
The only problem is that there's a short selection of good High BC 25 cal bullets.[I have noticed that also the 270 wsm.]
I believe it, its performance on antelope was drop in its tracksjust read an article in a deer hunting mag on best calibers for deer. .25 caliber dropped the most deer, either in their tracks or only ran 16 yards or so.
