Looking for advice on a good scope for my 300 win mag. Mainly hunting 500 yards and in. Looking to spend 600$ or less.

Oofff, rough on the new guy.

New guy, how does this rifle and you shoot at 100 now and what's on it? What do you want to be able to do at 500 and in? 500 is not what I'd call an intermediate range to be shooting critters at, you definitely need quality skills/abilities to get solid hits/kills at that range.

Burris veracity 3-15x50. Brand new on eBay for $500.

Get the ballistic plex E1 reticle.

First focal plane with best reticle for hunting.

If you don't mind used I'd keep an eye out for older Zeiss Conquest or VariX III's. VariXIII with foward adjustable objective and target turrets can be had for pretty cheap.

Midway periodically has 4.5-14x50 leupold mark 4s with M1 turrets for 699. I know this is a little higher than what you stated, but close enough I thought it was worth mentioning.
