Does anyone have any experience or insight on the Berger 7mm 168 gr. Match/Hunting VLD? Is this bullet appropriate for elk, or will it not perform?

    Thanks.

It will perform very well - I know of a couple dozen elk that probable would vote otherwise.

Is this at short or long range? I've had people tell me to keep it over 400 yds. with this bullet. Expansion vs. fragmentation, etc.

I have personally killed elk and mule deer with this very bullet with excellent results. If you do a web search you will find 100's of affirmative responses. My bull was longest bull was only 360 yards out of a 7mm Mag at around 2925fps. Made jello of entire interior of ribcage north of the diaphram.
