I have been shooting a STW for about 4 yrs now and absolutely love it!! Have killed everything from coyotes to Elk with it. The load that i have settled on is 71.5 gr IMR 4350, Mag primers, and 140 gr Accubonds at a COL of 3.595. The are going about 3300 fps down a 26" tube.

I have shot H1000, Reloader 25, and I believe I've tried maybe Win 760 when i first got it?

I can go back and look at the other loads if you need to know, but the imr works for me. I settled on the 140's, because speed kills! those accubonds are lethal!!!

78-79 grains of Retumbo and 160 grain Accubonds group excellent in my STW.......never chronied it yet though to know the speed of it.

I shoot 2 loads in my STW
Rem case/fed. 215/86 gr of H1000/140 nosler ballistic tip (max in my rifle, but be careful) this load runs 3550 fps from a 26" lilja (88 gr gives me 3600 but its a tad sticky)

Rem case/fed. 215/94 gr of WC872/160 nosler accubond (this is at 60 degrees F, y'all know about 872 so work this load up in cooler temps to get best velocity and cut back accordingly for hot temps) This load runs the accubond out at 3340 fps real good hunting load during cool weather.

I don't shoot WC872 in the summer.

140 Nosler BT/80gr/IMR7828

160 Barnes TSX/79gr/IMR7828

150 Barnes TSX/81gr/IMR7828

154 Hornady SST/80gr/H1000

140 Nosler Accubond or Barnes TSX/72.5-73gr H4831

160 Nosler AB/79gr/RL-25

7STW loads

I guess you don't have to be a genius to see a consensus in all these recommended loads:

For all 140 to 160gr bullets use: 78 to about 80grs of IMR 7828, RL-25, Retumbo, or H1000, or maybe 72-74grs. of H4831.

Anyway, a good range to explore when I get my 7STW. Looks like you've got it covered, jimm. Thanks for the post.

P.S. I know, "always start a little low, and work up."

Many thanks to

all who responded . I really appreciate real world exp . , beats the stuffings out of " theory " .

To throw a monkey wrench in the works how about some loads with a heavy and high bc bullet like the Cauterucio 176 grainer or the 180 Berger . That is what my rifle is twisted for , the heavies .

Once again , thanks all for your time and info .

I just got mine!

I just bought this 7mm STW it has a 30" Kreiger barrel 1 in 9" twist.

Will eventually be reloading for it!

Anybody shooting a 30" tube any advice for the longer tube.

Beautiful! Is that a Tooley MBR stock? What action, muzzle brake? Who is the gunsmith? Tell us all about it.

Yes Sir

That's a Tooley MBR it's a Sako action Jewell 2 oz trigger with safety.

Not sure who made the break I can find out tomorrow. it was made by Bill Sturdevant (sp) out of Colorado.

At least I think I got the name right I'm pretty sure of the last name. I've got another barrel also 6.5 X .300 WSM!

Got some factory ammo on it's way from Midway Fed Premium with Nosler 150 grain boatail. They had em on sale for $18.49 a box I couldn't pass that up 100 empty brass would've cost me 46 bucks + S&H I got 100 loaded rounds for 105 bucks.

Hey!

I just got the rifle. I don't know yet if I will sale the extra barrel.

The 7mm STW is laying beside the rifle in that pic the 6.5 X .300 WSM is pictured on the rifle.

I'm going to shoot the 7mm STW barrel first then I will decide. I really don't need an extra barrel.

Rick had the 6.5 X .300 WSM barrel on the rifle I'd guess because he has a
.338 LM but the 1st thing I did was install the 7mm STW. I do know that the 6.5 barrel has about 100 rounds through it and they were mild.

I will let ya know how things go. I might decide to part with it I've got a few fire-formed brass and a set of dies for the 6.5 X .300 WSM also!
