Got out to the range this morning and was able to fire my RL26 pressure/velocity/ladder test at 300 yards from a trued 700/A5/28" heavy Bartlein 9 twist/8.5-25x MK4. It has a lot better vertical to it than H1000 did, but I'm not sure it's the magic powder for my rifle. I topped out at 73g and heavy ejector mark's at 3137fps. The node looks to be anywhere from 69.5-71...what do you guys think?

It's a 28" barrel...how much slower does a guy have to go before hes at 7 RM/26" velocity levels? I feel I'm right in there for velocity/accuracy with a 180g at 3000fps+ from a 28" 7-300 Win Mag. My goal was 3000fps and 1/2 MOA or better, I think both powders will do it fairly easy. I have 12# of H1000 and only 1# of RL26. So I'll be going with the H1000 either way. Just wanted to try this new RL26 magical powder that adds 100fps while keeping all the accuracy...I had room to go up with H1000, didn't have ejector marks at 74.5g @ 3086fps. I'm betting H1000 would keep up with RL26 velocity wise, just takes a few more grains to do it. 72.5 and 73g at 3122/3137 of RL26 both left heavy ejector marks and bolt lift was stiff. I'm thinking 70-71 with RL26 and 71.5-72.5 of H1000. Load 5 each and see what they do at 300 yards next trip out.

my bad, I'm about half tired and thought you said it was 3137 speed. Was just a thought. I've generally found if the speeds there but the accuracy isn't quite if I back off 100 then life comes together.

Best of luck to ya

I'm building a 7-300prc to do just this, 3100 w/ 180s and 195s @ 3000 with moderate pressure, and good brass life.

You will get allot better velocity then that, I'm running 25" barrel 8.5 twist 7-300wm 72.2 H1000 with 180 Berger and or 180 Eldm and getting just over 3100 no pressure 3187 FPS gives me flat primers.

I'm using Nosler 300 win mag brass necked down to 7mm. I have 4 firings on it now and primer pockets are still nice and tight. It's never been hot rodded. I'd rather a load do 100fps slower and double your brass life, then go full throttle and toss your brass in 3-4 firings...To each their own.

Absolutely man reason I backed down a bit I used to run 74.2 to get 3187 but was hard on brass so sitting comfortably at 3100 with 72.2 h1000 no pressure 6-7 reloads on gunwerks brass.

Got a buddy who runs Retumbo in his 7-300 and it is a tack driver.. Might want to try it if you can find some. I guess It would depend on your powder flavor 75 grains for him is 3100 fps and no pressure and good brass life .. ADG brass and Fed 215 Primer.. Now days I guess it just depends on the components you can locate.. I imagine the 8133 would work just fine too.. He just necked down the ADG and that brass sure can take a beating.

I've got an stw shooting 180 elds in a 28" bartlein. I saw a node trying to develop around 3125-3130 fps. I didn't spend much time there and went on up to 3183 fps and that node seem to be wider. I ended up with 80.4 grains of n570 with a 215gm primer. That's the only powder I've tried. I know this is not the same cartridge but our barrel length & bullets are the same. Hopefully a little bit of help to you.
