375 rum for long range hunting

I have Hornady's 9th Edition and it doesn't show the 300gr SpBT interlock as discontinued. But my manual is a first printing so maybe things have changed. I too have found tough game bullet turn to FMJ's when the velocity drops. Fact is there are no perfect bullets. Pick's this one for this an' that one for that...

Nice to see someone else use the 45/70 up close. My Ruger #3 can take a lot of pressure so a 300gr does 2400fps and the 400gr goes 2100fps. The drop for the 300gr is 12" @ 300yds when sighted @ 200yds and it doesn't climb more than 3.5" above the cross hairs. It is the Hammer of Thor on everything inside of 200yds!!!

yes i love my 45/70 i have the 1895 guied gun with rxtended tube and laminated stock with large loup 300 hp at 2000 and that gun holds 6 in tube and one in the chamber i have 2-7 scope with 3 hold over dots mine is sighted in at 50yds it hits 1in low at 25 and 1 high at 100 dont use it for anything past that but i have a h&r bufflow clasic with a 32 in barrel open tang and globe for long play.i like big bore guns that is where my name came from everyone here at homr calls me big bore bud whin we go out shooting my smallest gun is a 300 win mag and i have 3 of them and 3 45/70s

Chuck. I have finished my 375 and got to the range to test some loads keep in mind my gun has a 32in barrel first was 87grs Imr 7828 no psi and under 1/2 moa all 3 shots same hole then 91grs RL25. Same thing so now I need to put them over crony hoping to get 2800fps with the long barrel I have had good luck with RL 25 so I'm going to run that I could go up 3-5 grs and still be ok but accuracy was great so as long as volcity is over 2700 I'm good if not ill push it will not except less

Are you using the 350gr smk's? I have to ask because there has been a fair amount of different bullets talked about here. Did you ever try H1000?

yes i am loading the 350 smk and have moved up to 92gr with the 7828 and 97gr RL 25 the light loads where only geting 2535 and 2580 have not made it back out the wether here has been vary cold

had to wate for the corn to come off now i have my shooting range back ill be doing more work with the 375 i have got some bullets over crony and 90gr of 7828 got 2650fps 92gr got 2710 average of 5 shots now i can see what kind of groups i can get a slower powder will probily get more vol but at 2700 the 350 smk will shoot about the same as a 180 sst from a 300 win mag at 3100fps out to 1000 yds after that the 350 will shoot flater
