Anyone using these out of the 375 RUM??

Idea on velocity from a 26" tube??

2650-2700fps attainable?

If it can reach 2650fps, the numbers aren't to bad out to about 1K. Velocity starts to get low (1600), but definatley still has the energy (2000).

Lot better then the 260g and 300g AB anyways. They fall on there face pretty hard after about 700 yards and there definately not a 1K bullet as the velocity is only around 1300fps.

Just kicking the idea of a 375 RUM around. Might be able to pick one up and was already thinking of what bullets to shoot out of it. For LR there isn't much. I was going to start and probly end with the 260g AB at around 3000fps. The 300g AB doesn't give much more BC, and without having more power to push it, the 260g seems like the better choice since you can push it almost 200fps more.

I knew there was a 350g SMK, but dind't know the BC, or if it would work out of a factory rem twist. I know it would have to be used as a single shot then, but thats not really a big deal. With the added BC of this bullet, it kinda opens things up a bit.

Just dont know if the 350g in a 375 RUM is ideal. Kinda like sticking a 220g in a 30-06 dont ya think?? Bit of a trajectory...

My 375-300 ultramag got just a bit over 2900 fps with the 300 grain bullets at max loads. I tried several different powders. My guess is you would max out in the high 2700's with the 350 but I haven't tried that one. If that BC is near .8 my 378 weatherby's are about to shine. They would get that 350 over 3000 fps and make a serious long range hunting rifle for large game.

I have shot only three 350g SMKs in my 26" barrel 375 RUM. Hot load: 96g of IMR 4831 gave me 2866fps (minor indications of pressure) same load with 300g SGK gave me 2922 and with 105g of H1000 the velocity was 2908. going to build a 30" barrel and throat it a bit more. I would love to see a 350g SMK at 3000fps, might get there. All are showing <3/4" group. Will check for loose primers when I reload. I am using Norma 300RUM brass necked up to 338, 375 and 416: great brass. Retumbo, RE-33 or RE50 may be needed in a 30" barrel but I have 8lbs of H1000 so it will get a full ring out before buying other powder. Using Labradar for the velocity checks.
