Does anyone know of a smith that has tried a 375-416Barrett? I have a 338-408 but would like to see more speed then the 375-408 is getting! Thinking the 416 with 200gr. case would work well!

What velocity meets your expectation?

What are you experiencing with the 375/408?

I'm shooting a 375 Allen Mag (375/408 KAI - Kirby Allen Improved:)) and 350 grain velocities are as much as anyone would be pleased with.

Last Frontier in Alaska has a reamer ,they can make dies by putting a 375 bushing in a 416 LEE seating die. I bought a barrel for that from Bartlien. But not the action yet. Would like to get a Mc Millan tac 50. But could always get a Bat . Stock I like are the Cadex great looking and used by the military. There was another guy chimed in awhile ago he had a smith in the US. But then i never heard. I have 2 - 375 Snipe-tac ,and 1 338 snipe-tac. Love to burn the powder.

If I would build one would be to push the 400 grs or any bigger. I think CCE has a 450 gr.

Good luck

It would be interesting for sure, Cutting Edge currently does up to 450gr .375s, but I'm sure Dan will go heavier if you ask him for a custom order (that's how the 425 and 450s came to be..)

I am getting 3250fps with a 350gr CEB (case is my own design probably not far from Allen's but I've never seen his) That is the first powder I tried and never changed but I'm sure RL33 could improve the fps. Never tried as it has more energy at 1000yds than 338 Lapua at 100yds. Hell of a fun gun!

What kind of speed are you getting thanks?

US-869 - 156 grains = avg 3272 w/ES of 6 FPS. Sadly produced a 1.6 MOA 300 yd group.

Same load seated 0.027" deeper = avg 3315 w/ES of 27 FPS. 300 yard 3-shots = 0.96 MOA

W/142.5 gr Retumbo velocity is 3200+ ES=all over the place. Pressures are excessive but group size, with me driving, hang around 0.50 MOA @ 300 and improve down range a ways.

I had Dave build me a rifle , took awhile to get . I think he has put building rifles on the back burner, He does do custom dies though. If you need your 375 dies built buy him. He be the one for sure. Mine he made are as good as any of them.

Oh yes he made a 375 VM 2 I believe he used a 585 Nyati African round as a donor. If you want Holy sh@t all out balls to the wall. Swamplord on here or PRO made a 375 neck down from 585 Hubell , That case design can take a lot more pressures. It has a bigger case capacity than a Chevy -tac case.

I must be doing something wrong, I only get 3250 with the 338-408 with the 300 gr. matchkings but no pressure Hard to believe a 375 350 gr runs faster !

You're not doing anything wrong. In fact you may well be one of the few who are with any sense of reason.

Me thinks many don't actually have such a cartridge ànd dream a lot about what is written about them.

I am learning that these exceptionally large cartridges introduce stuff that is not quite as noticeable with typical rounds.

One thing I've noticed from shooting a 16 # 375 AM is that I've started thinking about a 10-12 pounder. :)
