338 Norma Load Data

I always kind of looked at it this way

If you want a magazine fed system 338 norma
If you want to run a shorter barrel for hunting or suppressed 338 norma
If you want to shoot out past 2000 yards 338 lapua in a single shot

Of course this is subjective...but those are kinda the parameters I run with when customers ask about the two....

Good way to look at it. The Norma is pretty much limited to 1,800 yards w/ a 300 SMK. It's mach 1.008 @ 1,900 yards if I push a 300 smk to 2,750. mach 1.001 @ 2,350 with a 300 Berger going 2,750.

There is a guy on here that shoots comp. and has taken his Norma to r ight past a mile think he connected on a 3x5 at 3000. There are many on hide that run a 300 at lapua velocity. I have seen many posts on here where my norma runs faster than many of the savages that seem prone to pressure.Shooting and hunting are two different animals and I have seen no kills on this site at those type ranges? I think some of this stuff gets carrried away on velocity type paramiteres. I have a friend on this site that shoots 338 laimp, and has a 30/338 NMIMP that he favors and has shot over 6 world records in bench. He has taken game in the 1400 yrd range, there are very few that do that on a regular basis and for reason. Most of the large 338's will do the same thing and your lapua you had would be at the top of the list. Then you go to the Allen mags and such if you want to go to the next level.
