I didn't know they made the .308 in VS but Remington lists the VLS .308 as a 12 twist so you are probably correct........Rich

    Thanks Rich,
It is an odd gun, I can't find it on the Rem site, or a picture any where else?
Wally world pulled it out of the storage bin. Some one ordered it, he said way back and never picked it up.
It is blue fluted barrel with a HS wide forearm stock in desert tan pebble grain finish. On the box it says 700 VS 26''. The book and papers were missing.
I just got it scoped up and ready to break in. I want to use 168 mk or combined tedhnology bullets. Got any good load info ?
    Thanks for the reply,
    Mike

I don't own a .308 but the 168 should shoot well in a 12 twist. You can check the twist yourself if you are unsure. Take a cleaning rod with a tight patch and carefully push it down the bore making sure that the rod is constantly rotating. Mark the rod at exactly one full rotation. Remove the rod and measure how many inches the rod traveled into the bore at one full turn. This should get you close enough to determine the twist....Rich

    Thanks again Rich,
I have been meaning to do that, but it does not usually come to mind until I sit down here at the evil computer, then the forums take over my attention and I think I'll do it later. Repeat daily.....
