I just ordered some 208gr A-Max bullets for my 300WM. Does anyone recommend any loads for this bullet or similar bullet with Rl-22 or IMR-4831? They will be shot out of a 24" 1-10" twist barrel and will be used for hunting out to about 500yds.

Thanks for any info!!

75gr of RL-25, 215M, win cases shoot a real nice group but not
dont with testing of powders but RL-25 has shown the best groups so far.

my brother and my 300 wm like imr 7828. 71 to 73 grains with bullet just at or in rifling.be carefull.oh, cci br-2 primers.3" to 4" 3shot groups at 650 yards.jason

What about loads for the 210gr Bergers and Sierras. Would they be comparible to the 208gr A-Max?

Thanks,

These are my results to this point.

Load #1: Rl-22 @ 70gr, Win brass, F215 = 2654fps & .662" 3-shot group.

Load #2: Rl-22 @ 71gr, same = 2731fps & 1.17" 3-shot group.

Load #3: Rl-22 @ 72gr, same = 2779fps & .642" 3-shot group.

All with no pressure signs. Do these velocities look normal for a 24" Barrel? I also had a scope ring come loose on load #2!

Thanks,

Your results are pretty close to what quick load guesses.

It guesses......70 grains should do about 2733
71 2771
72 2809

Quickload guesses you may be able to work up to just a hair under 2900 fps and still be at about 64k pressure.
Again these are guess but if I were you I'd start working from 72 grains in .3 or .4 grain increments and see if you hit a really good accuracy "node".

any else have any more recipes and results for 208gr Amax in 300WM?

ill be using RL22 and H1000...

careful hot load but no signs of pressure in my gun.

imr-4350 69.5 grains

208 grn amax set .020 off lands (no it won't fit the mag)

2950 fps

24" mcgowen 1/10 bullbarrel

3 shots one hole measuring .37"@100 yrds

i loaded up to 70 grains but primers slightly cratered (very slightly probably ok but errored on the side of caution back to 69.5)
set .020 off lands
2975 fps
2 shots same hole and one shot with center touching the other 2s outside diameter @ 100 yrds
both very accurate
