For those that shoot the 300 WSM. I am wondering, what kind of velocity are you getting with 180's and heavier? Is accuracy still good at top speed?

Feel free to include barrel length and load if you wish.

I've got a new rifle coming, really hoping that I can get 3000'/sec with a 180 Accubond or other similar .5 BC bullet.

Thank you all in advance.

Just finished remington 700 25" 5 groove sporter extended mag so settled with a 3122 fps average with 8 fps es 180grn nbts winchester cases cci 250 primers 3.080" OAL 67.7 grns Imr 4350 not max at that length but probably wouldn't compress that tight at standard length so be careful. 4831 works better with anything heavier.

I had bean using 180bst at hot but not max 3025ish loaded 2.855 for my 24" tikka 65gr of h4350 and a 215 in win brass produced .5 constant 3-shot........two shots overlapping every time and the third going .25"high and right. light barrel heats up after two but if I let it cool completely down in between shots you can overlap them all day if I do my part. Recently switched to berger 190 VLD and it overlaps them all day anyway at 2.904" 62.5gr h4350 and a 215 in win brass produces 2875ish and shot so consistently that if one of those rounds do not overlap even in a ten round string I messed up. I bought a bunch of them and have not used any thing else threw that gun since. I love the wsm cartridge but if I where going to shoot any heavier of bullet in it I would use a long action and a long throat in order to maintain case capacity. My rifle does not like accubonds and does not shoot the lighter bullets nearly as well. At least based on my limited experience with this one rifle I think the wsm is waisted with lighter bullets and to short for heavier ones. Overall Great cartridge. Good luck

Lazzeroni Patriot (very similar to 300wsm) RL-19 & Barnes 180 MRX averaged 3051fps without any pressure signs out of a 26" tube. Accuracy was a solid 5/8moa.

It will depend on your throat most of all and IF it will fit in the magazine.

Set up as single shots, with 28-30" barrels and either MRP or H4350 powder, 210 bullets and F210 primers we are running 2950-3050 with winning 1K BR accuracy. There is another node though at 2850 fps that most work at.

Im running 63 grs of h4350 over 180 gr accubonds with Win brass ans win mag primmersIm getting 2862 FPS with a ES of 30.0 and a SD of 9FPS
Not extremly fast I know but it shoots sub MOA to 700 yards so why mess with it.
AOL is short due to mag lenght2.860

You should have no problem getting 3000' with 180's. I can easily hit 3050' with 190's (.616 b.c.) in my 300 Sherman which has very similar case capacity. I've fired 180's at 3150 with 62 grains of RL-17 with good accuracy. My rifle has a 28" barrel so a 24" would probably be about 150' slower........Rich

With a 26" tube mine shoots the 178's at 3070 with I7828. 168's at 3150 with I4350 and 208's at 2870 with H4831sc. None of those have been hot loads. I switched from 215m primers to the 210's and saw my veloctiy spreads drop. H4831 has turned in the the most uniform velocities in my rifle. The 208 load is one I am still playing with but has been the most accurate at 1/4 min. The others have run 1/3 to 1/2. I know some guys have had great luck with ramshot as well but I haven't played with that.

Very greatly appreciated :)

Keep them coming please, I'll eventually use some of this for my initial load testing/development.

Kirby tells me that the rifle should be included in his next batch.

Thank you all again.

I have a 300wsm on the way, what are the specs for your build.

Borden Alpine magnum action , 1-10 Lilja barrel with APS slim PK brake (approx 26-27" with brake), McMillan Remington Hunter stock with swirled colors and Pachmayer Decelerator pad, Jewell trigger...........Plan is to keep weight under 9lbs not including scope............don't remember barrel contour for sure, #6 maybe.

how about yours?
