300 win mag recipes

My barrel should be here soon! That means I need to get to work on some loads for my 300 win mag build, as it'll probably be finished by end of June after blueprinting and bedding the action, putting all the pieces together, cerakote, etc.

This is a hunting rifle that should weigh in around 12 pounds when complete and will primarily be shot from a stand or prone when hunting, and of course from a bench when practicing. It will one day take an elk when I can get to the mountains, but until then will overlook a large flat field for long range deer, hogs, coyotes and bobcats. Point being, it's not for paper.

It's a 1 in 10 twister that will finish around 25 inches. I'm looking to get out to 1,000 yards, but with enough velocity to be effective on deer sized game at that range... Is 2,000 fps @ 1k yards with a game sized bullet feasible? What kind of muzzle velocity would that be- 3100? More?

I was thinking a 180gr SST or similar, but am new to this cartrige so am open to your thoughts and suggestions.

My favorite all purpose load is ( Lapua case, 168grn Nosler BT, 74.5grns Imr 4350, CCI BR2 primer) very accurate and will take a whitetail at 1k.

Thanks- I've also considered the Nosler line, and have heard good things about the AccuBond. The BC seems to be pretty good on many of their bullets. What velocities are you getting from that 168gr BT in front of the 74.5gr of powder?

Don't try that charge at a factory OAL my OAL is 3.472" .025" off the lands. I get 3220fps with a 26" barrel and 3260 from my 28" barrel ES stays under 10 and is not sensitive from 20* to 100*.

In my 300 win mag the High BC bullets is what you need

Nosler 200 gr AB is excellent with H4831 at 74.0 to 75.0

Nosler for 2013 is coming out with a AB long range bullet that should be great in the 300 win and 300 wby.

Maybe it's just me but I always like the slightly faster cleaner burning powders in my magnum rifles... H-4350 is always my choice and I've had great success with every magnum between 7mm RM to .338/340 magnums..

rl22 or h1000 with a federal 215 under it and a sierra or nos 200 on top. I'd look long and hard at hornady 165 or 180 sp's with rl22 for mid range work, and the sst or a-max may do you well farther out. Some use rl25 or retumbo and they work but may be rather compressed.

I just loaded some H4350 and 180 gr NP and was amazed at the groups! I will chrony 68-grs and Fed215 this weekend I hope. If I can get 2900 or better I am hooked. IMR4350 did well too. RL22 in my gun likes it hot or 76-grs+. That H4350 since i have so much would be great!gun)

Let that monster out of it's cage. Load up some heavies with H1000 or Retumbo. The 300 WM is far more capable as a long range rifle when you step into the 200+ grainers, especially with the high BC Amax and Berger bullets. My favorite loads are with the 230 and 215 berger hybrids with Retumbo. The 230 load is 2800 fps and the 215 load is 2940 fps. Both loads carry well over 2000 ft/lbs of energy past 700 yards.
