I have been shooting a 180gr bullet in my 300 saum, but have been thinking of going heavier. Has anyone had luck running a 210 or 230 in this caliber?

The wife likes the 190 LRAB in her 300 SAUM. I have not loaded anything heavier.

.300 is the caliber. .300 SAUM is a cartridge.

Sometimes this will depend on the twist rate in your rifle and somewhat on the velocity you decide to run these bullets.

The 210 and 215 will run great in a normal 1:10" twist but anything lower than top of the pressure curve with the 230s might not get you the BC stability rate you want to achieve. I'm running the 230 Bergers in a 1:9" twist and have no problems.

Use the Berger Stability Calculator to check your potential.

She taken one deer with this load. 50 yard shot no tracking needed.

The two most accurate loads were Rem brass, Fed 215 primers and 67 Gr. Superformance, 2900 fps, and 67 gr. R-26 for 2800 fps. loaded to work in the mag. These were max loads in this Model 7 with 22" barrel.

The 190s @ 2900 fps out of a model 7 is very respectable.

What was your COAL?

I shot both because i had lots of each. They both shot equally well. I used the 208s for plinking and 215 for hunting.

I sold the rifle a while back but n560 was my friend for that combo.

0.308" is the caliber, .300 SAUM is the chambering of the reefle. Toe-May-Toe/Toe-Mah-Doe lol

This is the method by which CALIBERS are listed:

Your suggestion of .308" is simply the diameter of one .30 caliber bullet.

.300 SAUM is the name of cartridge per SAAMI. Technically it's still RSAUM for Remington Short Action Ultra Mag. Reading and learning is fundamental. Trying to rewrite the definitions of terms just to suit your desires is frivolous.

The greatest misuse is the term 'caliber' when the writer really should be typing 'cartridge' which specifies the loaded cartridge case by name.
