Does anyone have a recommendation for powder for 205 elite hunters

Which ever one you have, H1000, RL26 or in mine Retumbo. of course your rifle may like one or the other, but these should get you there. Good luck

The best group I've ever shot from my 30/378 was with US869, but the weather got warmer and the groups went south. Too temp sensitive!

Man, this is a friends rifle and he paid a fair amount for load work up from a local guy. It was retumbo with the 210 noslers. They couldn't get it to group so I said I'd give it a try. They used new nosler and Hornady brass. I was measuring the headspace. Good grief. The nosler was pretty close but the Hornady was 10-11 thousands short of the new nosler once fired and that's what they settled on. And he bought additional Hornady brass. Even the once fired Hornady is still short. I shot a few last weekend and barely inside a 4" circle at 200. The guy tried to tell him they don't start to stabilize till about 500. I'm not going to say anything but man, who does that!!

I definitely hear that. I might try it anyways and have him chrono in his hunting environment. What was your case fill like?

Couldn't tell you, it was a dozen years ago.

I have tried h1000, rl 25 rl 33 vit 24n41, us869, 7828 8133. The clear winner is 8133 in my rifle, gun likes 180's or 175's. Nothing heavier. Dunno y just does. 106 grains of 8133 with 180 hammer hunters is 3410 and sub moa. Best I have found

US869 is my favorite in the .30-378. With a long 30" to 32" barrel, velocity with the 230 grain Berger's will be over 3200 FPS. With the 250 A Tip,
3100 FPS. With a shorter barrel and the 205 Elite hunters, Retumbo may have an edge velocity wise.
Reloader 33, Reloader 50, 50 BMG, WC 872, and the old H870 all work very well.

I'd try rl50 or H50BMG... I'm about out of space with rl50 in my 300 rums with 225's (rather compressed) but I can still hit 3K fps from a 26" bbl. low case fill may be an issue if you go faster than rl25/h1000...
