I finally got some 160 Accubonds to load for my 280 Rem (Ruger MK77).
Anyone have any suggested starting points. I have new Nosler brass, 4831sc and H1000 powder, Rem 9 1/2 and Fed215 to work with.
Never loaded these ABs before so not sure what jump they seem to like.
Thanks guys

Check the nosler reloading website for load data. Hodgdon a site probably won't have the nosler, but you can find 160 gr bullets.

I have run AB in my 280 and 30-06. They do fine at SAAMI length in my rifles I have used them.

I start .03 with AB and have had good luck in many different rifles including 280. I currently run 160 AB with magpro in one of my 280s (nosler book max load)

Nosler isn't showing H1000 but does have H4831 listed for the 160 grain. I used IMR 4831 or IMR 7828 for heavier bullets when I had a 280 Remington.
Nosler load website will give you your answer's.

Agree with Birddog. Loaded and shot .280 for quite a few years until approximately 5 years ago switched to P.O. Ackley's version. IMR 4831 worked well along with 7828. H4831sc should give you good results. Not real optimistic with H1000 but I could be wrong. RL22 produced fast velocities but short on accuracy and temperature stability. Good luck and keep us posted.

In my 280AI I use 55.2 gr H-4831, and it loves it. I would use the H-4831SC, you should get some good groups.
What velocity are you getting? I load several 160-162 grain bullets, 280 AI loads with H-4831 powder, and my charge weights are in the 58.8 to 59.4 range, with velocities from 2842 and up. That just seems like you're leaving a bit on the table.

Shooting 168 grain bullet, I'm getting around 2,750FPS. Yeah, I've shot it up to 57gr and got around 2,950, but the rifle didn't like it. The grouping is way better at 55.2gr. I'll sacrifice some speed for accuracy.
I understand, I'm not a speed demon either. If I have 2 or 3 accuracy nodes, I'll try to take the middle or high one that doesn't show signs of pressure, but I'll never trade speed for accuracy.

The 4831 should do good with the 160gr bullet.
Fairly equivalent to the 160gr Sierra SPBT GameKing over RL19 load that I shoot.
Mostly though I go a different direction with the 280 Rem.
150gr Ballistic Tip over Alliant PP4000MR.

I hadn't really thought about the 168gr Berger VLD out of the 280 Rem.
Might have to try that!
