5mph wind at 90 degrees to billet flight:
195 at 3150 fps
215 at 3000 fps
Kill zone of 18 inch diameter
1000 yards
195 drifts 21 inches
215 drifts 25 inches
You make a poor judgement on wind call and are 50% off. That puts your 195 1.5 inches out of kill zone and your 215 out of kill zone by 3.5 inches.
Which do you choose and why?
I personally have never hunted any animal with a rifle when the temps were 90 degrees or more, not saying i would not or wont but just.........YUCK lol!! I have personally only seen one 28 nosler that hit just a touch over 3150 and it had a 30" tube!! most run like ive stated in the 3025-3055 range safe and prudently in a 26" barrel. The 7 rum will stand all over 3200 fps but that's a different topic!!
And in all honesty for the human error in me and all of us i would still want the 215 or 230 30 cal or bigger and the one main reason i shoot bigger 338's packing the ups truck across the sky!!! bigger weight bigger frontal area just bigger! they flat out do more damage, if the error is there and ill be the first to admit im human and i make mistakes i want that huge bullet!! And also if your off by 50% or more thinking its a 2.5 mph wind call instead of a 5 plus mph wind call then your wind finger is way off and needs calibrated!! LOL
