Got my hands on a pound of Ramshot LRT finally, and 9lbs of Unicorn Tears (Retumbo), so went out today to get a rough idea of charge weights for my 264 Win Mag and 7 Rem Mag. Figured the LRT data might be helpful for others, as I didn't find much in the online reloading manuals. No accuracy info, as I was only shooting one shot per load to get a velocity graph.

Temp was ~44° F, data collected on a LabRadar.

264 Win Mag. 24", 1:8, 5R, X-Caliber (Savage). 2X Fired R-P brass (Weight ~230 gr, Volume ~86 gr H2O). COAL = 3.340", ~0.02" off lands.

7mm Rem Mag. 26", 1:8, 5R, X-Caliber (Savage). 2X Fired ADG brass (Weight ~245 gr, Volume ~84 gr H2O). COAL = 3.335", ~0.02" off lands.

Some comments...

I saw no signs of pressure up to the max tested, so there's a bit more room to go, though I doubt I'll push it any further. I'm very happy with velocities for both powders, and want to leave a little room for temperature increases during the summer.

I pressured out in both cartridges at lower velocities with both H1000 and RL26.

Though Quickload and most reloading manuals indicate I would be well over 100% case fill with LRT, that doesn't seem to be the case. The max loads above still had some "rattle", though they were definitely right up near the neck/shoulder junction.

Hope this helps someone else thinking about trying LRT in a 264 or 7 mag.

This is great information. (7 Mag info) When H1000 was scarce I tried IMR7977 with great success, then 7977 became hard to get and haven't seen for quite some time. I then found a good load using IMR4955 shooting 150 grain bullets.

It just goes to show there are many powder and bullet options out there for any given combination. The real problem is it's hard to justify shooting "more components" to find the perfect load.

Your information is appreciated and hopefully will help someone that thinks they need Retumbo could use an alternative. 👍

What was the fill capacity on the wm? I'm waiting to try some for 144lapua, 147hornady and 150gr Sierra.

Like the tube.
It's not complete yet. Still in building phase. Both are on 110 actions, but the carbon fiber barrel is a 300wm 30". Just assembled for decision on which chassis each will go with? Woox for the 300wm and mdt for the 264wm most likely. The 32" barrel is 15oz heavier than the cf. The cf looks better on the Woox. What do you think?

I'm really liking the Woox. I've been eyeing them for the past several months. I think they have some classy & classic looking offerings.

For Ramshot LRT, QL shows the following for my 264WM, a 147 ELD-M, my particular brass (86 gr H2O) and COAL (3.34") so YMMV.

I am loving that you put the work in on this and posted it!

I've been wondering about LRT's use in a 7RM, and this looks super promising.

Great work and detail on your part to get this out to the forum.
