Hi all,

I just shot up some 243 loads and am a bit disappointed. Apparently varhet and 100 gr sierra gamekings dont agree...I ran a ladder test and the best i could do was still horrible...so, anyone have any good loads for the 100 gr SGK using either imr 4064 or h4350? rifle is a rem 700, 22inch sporter barrel, 1 in 9 1/8 twist...

those are the three powders i would start with. start down a little from max. shoot some three shot groups. .5 increments .

Varget is a terrible choice of powder for that heavy of a bullet in .243. Try Imr 4064.

Thats what i was thinking as well...4064 was my powder of choice for 75g pills, guess im gonna try that again...would 4350 be better than 4064 or is 4064 tops for the 243?..The reason I ask is because i have almost a pound of each and i switched to varget for all of my 30's, so i really have no use for them now...

the slower powders like 4350, and re-19, re-22 and 4831 may give a little higher velocity. i have obtained better accuracy with varget and I-4064 which are very similar in burn rate. how big are your best groups?? i have obtained good groups with every .243( most are rem700) i have loaded for with varget and I-4064 and the sierra 85 bthp.

my best groups are still around 2 inches...no fliers or anything like that, just all scattered...barrel is freefloated, it's a 700 by the way...i loaded up some 75 grain hornady's a few months back for a different rifle, i believe i was using H4350, and these shot well out of this gun, well, better anyways...****,...guess ill just have to load and shoot more..lol...

H414 (aka WW760) has about the same burn rate as the 4350s, and flows like water through powder measures (no weighing or trickling required).

It works great for heavy bullet .243 loads, or the .243 AI.

You might find that H4831 or IMR7828 will work better for you with 95gr. bullets and higher. I have loaded the 243 for a long time and those are always my go to powders with the 95-100gr. pills. I can pm you my recipies if you are interested.

H414 is pretty temp sensitive. A little care has to be given to load testing temp. and
field temps.

Any reason why you want to use 100grain bullets ???

I have a Tikka T3 Super Varmint with a stainless 20" 1 in 10 barrel.

I use H414 with 87 grain V-Max and it give .5MOA.
I use Varget with 80 Grain Bergers and they give .3-.4MOA.

With the H414 and V-Max I have taken my PB of a 704yd hare.

I checked the 6MMBR website and the powders they are recommending for 100grainers are;
