Could somebody please give me some good loads to start out with. I'm shooting in a remington 700. First time at this so really don't know what all information you need.

What twist barrel and at what range are you shooting?

I am currently working up loads in my Rem 700 in 22-250 right now. Everybody at the range who had shot the 22-250 in competition said to start with a 52 gr bullet with 38.0 gr of H380. It shot very well under a Hornady 52gr BTHP, CCI primers. Did not chrono.

I am also starting to work up some different powders and 52gr AMax and am switching to Fed Match primers.

1in12" twist 24" heavy barrel. I will post some more results afetr I get to the range.

summitsitter,

I shoot a M700 VLS 22-250, 1:14 twist 26" tube.
My load is as follows-
50 gr BT
36.0 grs Varget
W-W case
Federal GM210M primer

Shoots in the .5s with an avg MV of 3720 fps

JD338

33.5 gr Varget, 55 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips @ 2.42 OAL give me 3415 fps out of a 26" tube. These loads shoot .3 for me consistently.

36 gr Varget, 52 gr A-Max give me 3620. usually .4-.5" groups.

38 gr WIN 760, 55 gr Sierra BTHP give me 3450 fps out of the same gun at .3"

.......but I prefer the Noslers for a little better killing efficiency = DRT!

Hope this helps you out a little.
Gun is a 700 VS.

35.5 of benchmark with 50 balistic tips. h-380 with 55 or 60 grain bullets. use the primer the rifle likes . start witha wlr and or 210gm.

22-250 loads...

My 14 twist 26" tube likes several diff loads:

52 Amax, 55 NBT, and 55Bks all do very well in front of 38g H4350 or 32.5g AA2015. My second favorites would be H4895 and Varget.

These are 1/4MOA in this rifle, but you'll have to find the sweetspot in yours.

The 22-250 works well with many different powders, but if I had to pick a couple to start, I'd go with Varget and H4895 as they seem to be good in every 22-250 I've loaded for.

Good Luck

The best load out of my model 12 Savage is a 50 grain V-Max ahead of 39.0 grains of W760 with a CCI200 primer. Varget, H380, and IMR4064 also work very well.
