Well little late on this. Great year for me and many others. Pics are not in any order. We started in Walkers Cay in May went 3/5 on blue marlin and landed all 3 we hooked. 1/2 on sailfish no pics and lost a spearfish on that trip. Also landed a bunch of mahi there
Went to Big Rock and landed a 484.5# Blue Marlin the tail and Bill are a table decoration at the lunch after the tournament. Took the old boss out with his son and girlfriend for a smokeshow on yft.12/13 in 2 passes. Our limit done we packed up and went home(100MILE one way run) We had some other epic trips also. First swordfish for one boat as well as first wahoo and several first marlin for others.
Enjoy

Just Lake Ontario in the Golden Crescent. Late Fall but it could be anything from these to Kings Steelhead or monster Lake Trout.

Nice! I work the Big Rock Tackle Show every January.

In my younger days I would take 2 or 3 trips to the Gulf each year. I made some great friends on these charters, and we caught the heck out of fish. Great memories and adventures. Never caught and really big bill fish though.

Sorry for jumping in on your thread. It just sparked memories of good times. There was gentleman we all knew as Uncle Dave that went with us every time we went out. He knew everyone at the docks and was one the kindest men I have ever met. My daughters loved to have him on the boat and help teach them and cheer them on when they got hooked up.
I took him with me on his last fishing trip. The last fish he landed is below. He passed the following week. RIP Uncle Dave.

Wahoo are my favorite fish to eat. You were fortunate to have the times you did with him. If they were all similar it must have been alot of fun.
I wish more would post up their adventures. I'm working on the trips I go on so I don't get to take many pictures. Alot more happens I wish I could pull out of the footage we get. Most of which has to be turned in to the tournament directors for review to make sure rules are followed. Then they get written over or mixed up in drawers or taken by the guests

So are like a good tasting fish or are they caught just for the fight? Never caught one before so just curious.
For the Blue marlin it's considered a sport fish and released by a majority of anglers. This was however in a tournament. After the fish was weighed it was brought to a college lab and a necropsy was performed to determine age sex (although almost all above 200# are female) and state of fertility. Once that was performed the boss asked for 20# for consumption, which 10 was used in the resturnat picture. The rest of the meat is donated to a women's shelter and a homeless pantry.
As far as it as table fare it is excellent, firm meaty with a lighter flavor than most all fish served.
