Well the wife is 4 days post surgery after having cancer cells removed for her lady parts. All she wanted to do was hunt deer. Well the doc said one shot no more. No high activity no this no that. So I set her up over looking a small hayfield in a lawn chair and off the tripod. Of course she doesn't wanna shoot any of the lower recoiling rifles she wants to shoot the sister to a good firmed and mentors rifle that passed away this spring, a rem 700 in 7stw. I hadn't gotten the hammer load 100 percent dialed in yet so she opted for the the 168 Berger and at the last range she told me was 136 yards and closing. (I was back checking the bigger section as it was getting dark.) I hear the report of the rifle instantly followed by a loud ballon pop. So I take off running to get to here. I come around the corner where I should be able to see her orange hat. Guess what's not there yup! The orange hat. So I slow to a slow jog and get through the corner and look who's running at me! My lovely wife who listens oh so well enough to know that because she shot a deer it's ok to run! NOT! Hugs were exchanged she told me the whole story about how it unfolded. The interesting part was the land owner was telling us about a 1 horned 3 point and 1 horned 4 point that he had seen on and off. He says every year for 40 plus years there are a handful of bucks that only grow one horn. Well she shot a singles horn spike. She is pumped! So now that she can't lift over 15th I just finished getting it quarter and hung and she will begin cutting it up tomorrow after it hangs. She wanted to have the tenderloins wrapped in full fat and the testicles so that's what we had!
