2 Bullets Brand Questions

1.) Has anyone tried the Nosler Accubond Long Range bullets that has a B.C. of .625 and 150 gr. for the .277 caliber? If so, what are your thoughts on Accuracy and what powder did you use?



2.) Does anyone know when Hornady is going to unveil their .277 Cal ELD-X?

If you are running a standard 10 twist you will probably be slightly disappointed. I have 2 barrels running an 8 twist and they shot ok after I sorted them by base to ogive.

Agree. It's not uncommon for a good many bullet manufacturers. For the .625 B.C. Nosler I'd start with .563 for my initial dope development.

Thanks Brian that was a good read. I am in fact shooting a 1-10 twist on my barrel. I am currently loading the Berger 150 gr. VLD Hunting bullets and shooting a .474 MOA so I am pretty happy with that. Just looking around to tinker with other loads. Its my first year loading so I have a lot to learn from this site. Thanks for your help!

Lot depends on where you live and shoot.

I live 7700ft here in Co and hunt higher but I can hunt down to around 5K. My best accuracy with 270 and 150gr ABLR is 2959fps and at 7700ft my SG using Berger twist Calculator is 1.68 and 5 k is 1.51. My rifle has 1/10 twist barrel and BC max @ .625 on the 150gr ABLR

I got nice 5x4 buck with it last year as I drew early high country buck tag above 10k.

I drew 4th season cow elk last year and took 30-06 and 270 as back up and I got first season cow elk tag this year and I'm hunting with that 270 and using 30-06 as back up this year.

I've shot the Berger 140gr VLD ,140gr Barnes also in that rifle.

I've got 270 Wby with Rock Creek barrel and one of my winter project is to try Berger 170gr in that rifle.

yes I have a used the 150 ABLR in my 270WSM, getting about .5-.75 MOA groups with it using H4831SC at 3000fps. My 150 VLD loads are faster and more accurate.
My rifle is 1 in 10 twist and I live at 6300ft. good luck.
