169 smk .308 loads

Did a load workup for my 20" AR10. Wanted to try the higher bc 169's and I would say I have a winner. No pressure signs at all. 5 shot group.

Starline brass (new)
169 smk
210M Federal primers
44.3gn of Varget
Velocity was a little over 2,600 fps

Looks good! I have a box that showed up to the house late last week. I'm out of town and can't wait until I get home to load some myself. I also planned on using Varget. Maybe I'll try some IMR 4895 as well as I've always had great luck in .308 loads.

I'll be shooting out of my new Tikka CTR 20".

Went back out and tested the load again. Did a 10 shot group. I was going to do a 175 smk load but don't think I'll waste my time. Average velocity was 2,644 fps.

Here's mine today with 169s. Five shot group. 45.0 grains of varget. REM 9.5 primers.

I'd be happy with that for sure. I have been meaning to test those in my 20" bolt gun.

2667 avg on my five shot group.

Here is the Sierra 168 TMK with 3 different powders and @ 3 different seating depths. All shot at 418yds and came in under 1". Velocities and SDs are listed for a few.

Unfortunately, I could gather velocities today for various reasons. 2700 ish from a 20" barrel has been the norm with this charge weight though.
