Close, it’s a Blaser K95. Merkel’s are great rifles, but harder to find barrels for. I’ve got a 6.5 Swede and a 22 hornet along with the 30-06 for that gun.
I own this model and find it slower than my analog 10-10. Mine has a slow reaction time and thus a real PITA to trickle. Hopefully yours has a better brain.
Blaser K95. Lights out accuracy in a tiny lightweight package. Breaks down to fit into your backpack in seconds. Scope mounting system is fast enough for removal and reliable so still hunting with iron sights in dark timber is possible while shot opportunities past 100yrds can leverage optics...
Our families tradition is to always have a “toast to the fallen game” with the first meal from a harvest.
In the field after a successful harvest I say a small prayer, thanking the animal for giving its life for our nourishment.
The most important thing for my kids to learn is to treat...
Yeah, I’m no Form disciple. I own no Tikka’s and no Nightforce, I do have an S&B from before I ever heard of him. I do respect the heck out of his rigor and consistency. And his testing isn’t for rock climbing. One thing he does is leaves scoped rifles in his truck during testing to see if they...
Not trying to get any knickers in a bunch but there are some pretty stout and objective scope field evaluations here that uncover some generally terrible performance across many brands. The gentleman who runs the testing puts an ungodly number of rounds down range and isn’t on any optic...
The proverbial horse is out of the barn on that one.
I’d much prefer eliminating horse access to wilderness areas than adding any sort of wheels to wilderness trail access. I doubt that would ever happen although I would find it amusing to see packers and guides having to hire Sherpas like...
I work in the bike industry for brands that make bikes and e-bikes (disclaimer).
Firstly on the forum request: I think this is a great idea. People are hunting with e-bikes and will continue to do so. Why not aggregate good information about what’s working and what’s not? Also a good...
Another vote for bedding seating stems.
With the Redding dies I use, they sometimes grab the hammers and won’t release easily on the upstroke after seating. Bedding solves this as well as engraving.
For actual modern replacements I'd focus on those with good glass and a smaller objective like Swaro z3 3-9x36
For vintage I'm really loving a Schmidt & Bender fixed 4x that I got for a similar reason. Super clear glass and solid build quality.
Zeiss 4x32 also comes up pretty often. Here...

Good deal on a good rifle.
