I've used the Stoney Point sticks for years. Once you get the hang of it they are very fast to deploy.
They allow for uphill or downhill and moving targets, way quicker than a Harris Bi-Pod. I use those on my
varmint rifles.
I ruined a batch of irreplaceable Winchester 7STW brass by turning the necks so that I could use a bushing die.I only turned the brass enough to totally clean up the neck. Unless you have a tight necked chamber I do not advise using an undersized bushing, all I accomplished was developing...
I definitely agree with the comment "dead is dead". However my experience with Accubonds on elk is that they make it through the near side rib cage and then totally disintegrate leaving no exit wound. These are the most consistently accurate bullet that I've shot. Wild game is too important to...
OK, I'm convinced. Sometimes my brain falls out. You are correct, I have had a ton of success with the
300 Weatherby. I actually refer to that particular rifle as "Big Medicine." 180 gr. Swift A-Frames behind a load of IMR-7828 is pretty amazing on a big bull elk.
I've shot a custom built 300 Weatherby for the last 10 seasons. Now my rifle is ready for a new barrel. The original Kreiger barrel's throat is shot after less than 1000 rounds. When it gets re-barreled next month it is also getting re-chambered to .300 Win Mag. This rifle has accounted for 9...
I guess I should add, the rifle is a custom build by Brett Evans, NW Armswerkes. Brett's rifles shoot really good !!!

I have been monitoring and contributing to this post for quite some time. I see way too much concern, IMHO, about velocity. What we really need is accuracy. I used to shoot a lot of 1000 & 600 yard bench rest. I used a 6.5/284 Norma shooting a 142 gr. Sierra Match King @ 2850 fps. This load was...
The bull shot with the 180 gr. Accubond actually cart wheeled backwards, he was hauling butt up a very steep slope trying to get away from me.
The bull this year had both lungs taken out with the first shot. He ran about 50 yds. trying to keep up with his herd of cows then he just stood with...
This bull elk was also killed with a 160 gr. Nosler Accubond from my new 7mm STW. The bullet passed through the elk as well, Nosler must be beefing these things up a bit. I shot another bull elk a couple of
years ago with a 180 gr. Accubond in a 300 Weatherby and it blew up after penetrating...
