New to long range - first rifle - few questions

The reason I was asking about the clearance is to due with cheek weld on the junk stock. I will be putting a sort of foam, but the lowest I can get the scope is the best.

New to long range - first rifle - few questions

Thanks for the reply! I am also getting myself setup with reloading equipment asap, this week most likely. I am also going to get a chrono eventually. From what I gather I should be able to throw together a good handload eventually. My plan on that is to get a hundred rounds or so of federal...

New to long range - first rifle - few questions

Hello all! I have been gradually getting into long range shooting the last couple years, and nearly have my first build complete! I have been doing countless hours of research and I think I definitely have a good base to my understanding of everything. I just have a few questions and I'd like to...

    Savage Model 12 .223 - What optics?

I received this gun in a lot from a family member I traded something for. This rifle has never been shot, and is bare. It is the SS varmint model. I have heard good things about these rifles, and I want to make it into a shooter. I plan on getting a 1 piece base, as well as good rings and...

Thinking about adding a long range rifle to the collection and I need caliber advice

Re: Thinking about adding a long range rifle to the collection and I need caliber adv Thanks for all the advice. I am not going to use my SA savage for a different gun. I like that .223 and it will stay there. I think what I will do is just keep my eyes open for an action, or even a deal on a...

Thinking about adding a long range rifle to the collection and I need caliber advice

Re: Thinking about adding a long range rifle to the collection and I need caliber adv I was also thinking of doing that Savage build idea. I was thinking like a Savage 10 action with a bell and carlson stock and a nice match barrel. I like the idea of savage because I like being able to do...

Thinking about adding a long range rifle to the collection and I need caliber advice

Re: Thinking about adding a long range rifle to the collection and I need caliber adv Yea that was another consideration in my purchase. I want it to be really accurate, mostly for a confidence builder, but I do NOT want to go out and spend $2500 or more on this rifle. I want a nice long range...

Thinking about adding a long range rifle to the collection and I need caliber advice

My gun collection is currently: .22lr bolt, 5.56 ar, .223 stevens, 30-06 remmy, .50 muzzleloader, and a coulple shotguns. This collection basically covers anything that I could hunt in North America, so I would say that I have the base gun collection complete. Now I want to begin adding specific...

    Savage 25-06... Which model?

I would love too, problem is that I do not have too much to dump into a new gun at the moment. I am looking for a decent gun that will shoot MOA. That would be more accurate than I would actually need it anyways for hunting/general long range plinking. Would the Marlin XS7 be a better choice?

    Savage 25-06... Which model?

I am looking at getting a new rifle and have it narrowed down to a Savage calibered in 25-06. I have found that most people would consider Savage to be most accurate out of the box. I will use this for yotes, deer, and (once upgraded) long range target shooting. Longest shot I will be taking in...

    sub 1000$ Gun (Not Custom)

I love my BDL. The stock is actually in the process of curing from a bedding job right now. Prior to bedding I was getting groups a little under MOA at 100 yards. I hope that the bedding increases its accuracy.
